Respect Where Respect is Due

Police Car

What happened to how we used to treat our uniformed men and women? When I look through the internet, all I find are videos upon videos of young adults disrespecting cops left and right. What is happening here? What have we come to? Where is the respect?

I look back at my childhood and young adulthood and try to recall my interactions with police officers and I never remembered a time when I yelled or stuck my finger in their face or even put my hands on one. What are they teaching our kids?

This has to stop! We are not barbarians! At the end of the day, we have to own up to what we did that day and look back at our own actions. When YOU look back, are you proud of what you have done? Do you feel justified?

I know this is not the first time you hear this but, cops are people too. They wakeup in the mornings and go through all the same routines we go through. The only difference is that they choose to put their life on the line daily for complete strangers. Isn’t that fact alone deserving of your respect?

Police are People Too

I know that I’m going to get plenty of backlash with this post, but this needs to be said and I need to get this off my chest. I have never written for a blog and I have never even talked publicly about issues like these, but I can’t just sit idly by and ignore the problems we have.

Some of you may argue that the police are rude and just abuse their power but from what I have seen, most of the time they are reacting to being disrespected first. If you don’t think you need to respect the person, at least show some respect for the uniform and badge.

Respect the Badge

Most of all, one must keep in mind that, “You must give respect to get respect.”
